The vocabulary and lexicographical research unit is mainly involved in studying the words and the lexemes in the Nubian languages, their etymology, and their relationship. This unit also works on the coinage of new words to fill the Nubian languages’ lexical gaps. The outcome of this unit’s work is the development of multi-lingual and monolingual lexica for contemporary Nubian languages and the development of the thesauruses (the synonymous dictionary).  The monolingual lexicon stage or the complete “Dictionary” is considered the optimum goal for this research group, where the words will be interpreted on their own without a need for any other language.
